GunControl in the Country

Itis true that the number of innocent people killed by rogue gunholders increases by the day. Some of the actions are unforeseen assometimes they occur out of genuinely innocent mistakes. All of usare human therefore, we are prone to mistakes, even when defendingourselves. However, some of these killings are predictable. Somepeople with a history of taking innocent lives show signs of suchactions earlier in life. As mentioned in the argument, it should benecessary to do a background check on gun holders before issuing themwith a license to hold the gun. Psychiatric problems could leadsomeone to use the gun in an inappropriate manner. People who aretemperamental also have high chances of misusing the weapontherefore, scrutiny and restrictions should be effected mandatorily. These restrictions not only take into account the safety of thevictims, but also that of the gun holder as it avoids unnecessarymurder charges.

However, when imposing these restrictions, care should be taken not to denythe gun holders their basic right of defending themselves.Restrictions cannot work on themselves if people do not haveself-discipline. Therefore, in addition to reasonable restrictions ongun licensing, a culture of self-discipline should be cultivated inpeople. As early as possible, people should be educated on thedangers of using guns carelessly. Just as we do with contagiousillnesses, massive nationwide campaigns should be conducted topromote the proper use of guns because guns do not shoot themselves. If possible, the curriculum in schools should include social lessonson such matters. Without the primary self-discipline and awareness, people will buy guns if they want to and use them inappropriately.
